Freedom Trail Stop 16-U.S.S. Constitution

Freedom Trail

Stop 16: U.S.S. Constitution
The USS Constitution was launched in Boston in 1797. It is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world. She earned the nickname "Old Ironsides" during the war of 1812 when British cannonballs appeared to bounce off her hull. Today, she is manned by an active U.S. Navy crew and docked in the Charlestown Navy Yard.

We loved how the cannons all had names! I guess they would have to have names so they could yell out which one you had to man.

That is a long list of commanding officers.

Hammocks!
