President's Day Weekend Snowstorm

We had a huge 3 day snow event over President's Day weekend. It started snowing Thursday night and snowed on and off all the way through Monday!  We ended up with a total of about 10.5 inches of snow. Jeremy used the truck to pull the kids around the block on sleds. Elizabeth built a HUGE snow cave! Nathan built a fort! The kids and Jeremy did a lot of shoveling.

The Letters from No One

Elizabeth started receiving some mysterious letters a few days before her birthday! They were from Hogwarts! Nathan also received these mysterious letters before his 11th birthday. It is very fun! Elizabeth found letters at school, in the car, at her desk at homeschool, on her bed, in our yard, and in Charlotte's yard. She thought it was quite fun that letters were showing up everywhere! She never sent a return owl so the letters just kept coming!

Elizabeth's 11th birthday party

Due to covid, Elizabeth's birthday party was a very small affair this year! We had a small evening party with just the 4 of us. She likes to have donuts on her birthday. We also made a chocolate crunch cake as well that is Nathan safe.

Elizabeth at 11

Elizabeth is 11! She's 74 pounds and is 4'9" tall. She has finally reached the height where she can get rid of her booster seat!

She usually goes to sleep around 10:00 and I wake her up at 8:00. She starts her "online" part of school at 8:30. She has lunch at noon. She then goes to "in person" school from 1:00 to 3:15.

Her favorite foods are burritos, cheese, yellow rice, chicken, bacon, pretzels, pork, and donuts.

School has been "interesting" this year. She started the year with Wiley Elementary 5th grade doing virtual school. This was learning at home on her district issued Chromebook. Her teacher taught with Zoom (the teleconference program) and the kids sat at home and listened. Then, the district decided to send the 5th graders back to school. I knew it wasn't going to work out and the kids would probably be in and out of school. Since Nathan was not back in school and was doing virtual school, we just decided to keep Elizabeth with virtual school. She had to switch teachers and classes. This happened Nov 9th. THEN, her class at Wiley was only in class for 8 days before they were sent home for zoom and online class. I was right! They didn't let her switch back to her regular class so she stayed in her new class with her new classmates.

At semester break, they opened back up 4th and 5th grade for "in person" school. She then left her virtual teacher and class and went BACK to Wiley. This time, she actually is in the building in her classroom with the teacher she started the year with. She is in the afternoon class. There are 10 kids in her class. The other 10 kids go in the morning. The kids wear masks and sit 6 feet apart.

She says her eczema is doing better than last year. Winter is always the toughest time of year for her eczema and she itches a lot and can be quite miserable. Her allergies remain the same. Peanuts, sunflower seeds, and some tree nuts.

Her favorite subject at school is reading. She likes reading the Tally Series, The Tyme Series, and Land of Stories. Her least favorite subject is math.

She likes to play Exploding Kittens, War and Battleship with Papa. Her favorite toys are squishmellows, legos, and snow. Her favorite color remains teal. Charlotte is still her favorite friend to play with. They don't have lunch or recess at school this year so not much playing goes on there.
