New Carpet

We have lived in our house for about 8 years. The carpet was also 8 years old and needed to be replaced about 5 years ago. However, we were annoyed that it only lasted 3 years so we kept sticking with it!

When I started tripping over the rolls in the carpet consistently, we figured it was finally time to get new carpet. Since we were so disappointed with our last few types of carpet, we got very high quality carpet this time. It's so plush and soft! It really takes the echoes out of the house and makes it quiet. We just love it!

The carpet installers were amazing. They ripped out the old stuff so quickly and then put the padding in. They were so fast! I managed to snap a few pictures of the work. Here's the new padding.

And here's the new carpet!

Jeremy and Elizabeth marveled at how soft and amazing and plush the new carpet is. Walking on it barefoot is just heavenly!

The new and improved living room.

This was before we put the treadmill back in the spare room so it was still hanging out in the hallway.

Spring Break Road Trip Day 8-Salt Lake City Capital Building

On our drive home, we stopped at the Utah State Capital building! Unfortunately, it was a Saturday and apparently you can't go inside on Saturdays here. In Boise, we were able to go inside on a Saturday.

The view was beautiful this time of year! The snowcapped mountains and the blooming pink/white trees were a very pretty combination!

Spring Break Road Trip Day 8-Arches National Park-Delicate Arch

The next morning, we decided to do the 3 mile hike to Delicate Arch. We had seen it the day before from afar, but wanted to see it up close! We were there and back in 2 hours.  We got to the parking lot at 7:45 and it was nearly full. It was a Saturday, but I've heard it is this busy on the weekdays too! It was chilly, but really not bad at all. The wind wasn't blowing which we know makes all the difference! Everyone (even myself!) got hot hiking although it was probably in the low 50's that early in the morning.

The hike started off on a normal trail, but we eventually had to go uphill across this rock which was a little challenging but we all made it!

The arch was HUGE! No wonder they put it on the Utah license plate.

There was a huge line of people taking pictures right under the arch. We decided we didn't want to wait in the big line.

We walked around to the other side and took this picture.

We found a "window" even though we weren't in the "Windows" area of the park.

Here's the big rock we had to climb up. Luckily, it was much easier going down!

Our last stop before leaving arches. This is called Courthouse Rock. Elizabeth climbed up as far as she could and you can't even see her this rock is so big!

Elizabeth and I waited here while the boys did a 1 mile hike through tall rocks on either side of them. It was called the "Park Avenue" hike or something like that. They said it was fun with the big "buildings" on either side of them.

After this, we left Arches and headed for Twin Falls! Our big tourist stops were complete. We had used Elizabeth's 5th grade National Parks Pass for 4 different parks this trip! Last year, we used her 4th grade pass for 2 parks. They don't always issue the pass for 5th graders, but due to Covid, they let both 4th and 5th graders have a pass this year.

Spring Break Road Trip Day 7-Arches National Park

Our final spot on our Spring Break Rocks Tour was Arches National Park north of Moab, Utah. It was our 4th park that we visited using Elizabeth's free National Park Pass for 5th graders!

This is when Jeremy and the kids climbed up into Double Arch.

This rock is called Balanced Rock.

Behind us in this picture is the "Landscape Arch."

A family photo at the Double Arch. It was huge!

I think this was Turret Arch.

The "Windows" Arches.

Landscape Arch. Very huge!

Balanced Rock

Very pretty snow covered mountains in the distance.

One of the windows.

The windows up close. They are very huge!

Turret Arch.

Landscape Arch

WAY behind us in this photo, you can see the "Delicate Arch." It's the most famous arch. It's the one on Utah's license place. This is the "viewpoint." The next day, we took the long hike (3 mile round trip)  out to see it up close!

Another at balanced rock.

Balanced Rock with the sun right behind it.

Turret Arch in the background.

Double Arch

Double Arch up close. Very huge!

This was hiking out in the Devil's Garden area. This is where the Landscape Arch is. Elizabeth was done for the day as you can see.

Another picture of the Delicate Arch from a distance.

Delicate Arch

Some pretty views while driving.

Pretty views.

This area is called "Park Avenue." There are rocks lining the sides of a valley that remind people of tall buildings. The boys walked the mile through the "skyscrapers."
