Mud Pits

We had 10 drops of rain a few days ago so the kids decided to make mud pits and put on rain coats. Well, the mud never happened since it didn't do more than spit a few drops of rain. They ended up taking off their rain coats because they were too hot. It was pretty funny.

She can really use that hoe!

Posing next to her mud pit

Just cute

Nathan didn't want his picture taken.

She decided to make a mountain instead.

Tennis

Our local elementary school is putting on a tennis camp for 6 weeks (2 days a week). Nathan wanted to do it. I signed him up and brought him in.
He doesn't like it. He says it's too hard. The instructors have the kids bounce the ball on the racket and he struggles with that. They also have him bounce the ball on the ground with the racket and that's also hard. I hope we can get him to stick it out the next 5 weeks.

He's in the teal shirt in the picture.

Watermelon and Cantaloupe

Good news and bad news.

Good news: Look at these fabulous watermelon and cantaloupe we were able to grow in our garden!! We were never able to do that in Spokane. The long growing season here is fantastic!

The bad news:

Elizabeth loves cantaloupe. She's always loved it. For some reason, she ate the cantaloupe and her eczema around her face flared up like crazy. All around her mouth turned red and it looked like there might have been a few hives! I made an appointment with our allergist.
The very next night, we cut open the watermelon and we all had some. The SAME thing happened to her! I wonder if she's developed a melon allergy or if it's just something in our garden melons? She's not getting melon again until we find out. She's not too happy about it. Melons are one of the only fruits/vegetables she'll eat.

Family Walks

We try to take a family walk after dinner several times a week. I grabbed a few photos of a walk a few days ago.

The kids like to eat popsicles while we walk.

Posing in front of some beautiful roses!

Admiring some other flowers.

Walking along the trail.

The kids love these tiny little stopsigns.

We love these trails that go through town!

Look, it's a monster with 8 arms!

Homework

The kids have such cute homework.

Here is Elizabeth's first "homework" of the year. She wrote her name and practiced some nice "a's!"

Nathan has to use sight words in sentences for homework. He currently loves Lewis and Clark. Here are the explorers trying to climb Haystack Rock. It's raining and they are falling off because it's too slippery.

Our local middle school had a cross country meet. We went to watch! The kids really enjoyed it and now Nathan says he wants to run cross country when he gets into middle school.

Butterfly Garden

Here are a few pictures of our butterfly garden Grandma Pam!

This weather has been throwing Elizabeth for a loop. When she gets up, she's cold because the temperatures are cooling down. She'll put on a long sleeve shirt and pants. By lunch, it's up to 80 and then she's hot! The weather will probably be like this for another few weeks.

Gymnastics!

Elizabeth has started some gymnastics lessons! A tumblebus from a local gym comes to the preschool every day and the children can take gymnastics lessons! Elizabeth has tumblebus on Thursday. I snapped a few quick pictures on her first day of tumblebus. She just loves tumblebus and thinks it's fantastic.

Two Pippas

Pippa found her mother.

Nathan got the small puppy for Christmas a few years ago.

Recently, Yokes got some new stuffed animals. One of them was this larger version. Nathan spent all his birthday and tooth fairy money to buy this dog. He is quite happy!

Badger Mountain Hike

With Elizabeth in preschool in the afternoons now, Jeremy and I will have a few hours together every weekday with no children! This last week, we decided to hike Badger Mountain since we've lived in the Tri-Cities for over 2 years without accomplishing this feat. It was a perfect day. Not too hot, not too cold with a small breeze.

Heading up the hill

Continuing up!

Almost to the top!

Hey, we made it!

You could sure see everything up here!

Yesterday was Elizabeth's first day of Pre-K! She was very excited to go to preschool.

We took some pictures with the little sign.

We arrived at preschool!

We went inside. She put away her bag and started her entry task. Coloring! Jeremy and I left and she did just fine!
