Trip Day 6: Maryland and Gettysburg

We made it to Maryland! We didn't spend much time in Maryland. We drove in and out of it a few times getting to Gettysburg.  We got on a toll road so got to see Travel Plazas again.

A travel plaza somewhere in Maryland.

There weren't a lot of sights to be seen on the roll roads. Just trees. Sometimes, we'd cross a river to see a beautiful sight like this!

We made it to Gettysburg. This was definitely the hottest day of our trip. It was over 90 and more huid then we were used to at home. Luckily, the museum was all inside and driving around the battlefield, we were in the air conditioned car listening to the tour on the app. We only had to get hot for a few minutes at a time when we got out to look at things.

Nathan and the union soldier hat. He was obsessed with wearing one of these around when he was 2-4 years old. Papa and Gram had bought one here at Gettysburg for him! He used it as a conductor's hat because he loved Thomas the Train back then. Sadly, he did not want this new one. He only tried it on.

Elizabeth did get herself this eagle as a souvenir.

We saw the cyclorama painting of the Battle of Gettysburg. It was painted in 1882. I had no idea these kinds of circular paintings were so popular back then! I guess people would come to see these kinds of paintings as entertainment back before movies were a thing. It was very neat! It had to be shipped over from France.

Doods at Gettysburg....I did see a sign saying no dogs. I guess it didn't matter!

Museum

Driving around the battlefield. We stopped at all the points and listened to the audio tour.

Gettysburg Cemetery.

We drove through the town of Gettysburg to tour. It had some really neat old buildings and streets.

The train station Lincoln arrived at when he gave the Gettysburg address.

League Meet #2 was at Lawrence Scott Park in Kennewick. Both kids ran although Nathan probably shouldn't have. He had a terrible cold ...
