Spring Break Road Trip Day 8-Arches National Park-Delicate Arch

The next morning, we decided to do the 3 mile hike to Delicate Arch. We had seen it the day before from afar, but wanted to see it up close! We were there and back in 2 hours.  We got to the parking lot at 7:45 and it was nearly full. It was a Saturday, but I've heard it is this busy on the weekdays too! It was chilly, but really not bad at all. The wind wasn't blowing which we know makes all the difference! Everyone (even myself!) got hot hiking although it was probably in the low 50's that early in the morning.

The hike started off on a normal trail, but we eventually had to go uphill across this rock which was a little challenging but we all made it!

The arch was HUGE! No wonder they put it on the Utah license plate.

There was a huge line of people taking pictures right under the arch. We decided we didn't want to wait in the big line.

We walked around to the other side and took this picture.

We found a "window" even though we weren't in the "Windows" area of the park.

Here's the big rock we had to climb up. Luckily, it was much easier going down!

Our last stop before leaving arches. This is called Courthouse Rock. Elizabeth climbed up as far as she could and you can't even see her this rock is so big!

Elizabeth and I waited here while the boys did a 1 mile hike through tall rocks on either side of them. It was called the "Park Avenue" hike or something like that. They said it was fun with the big "buildings" on either side of them.

After this, we left Arches and headed for Twin Falls! Our big tourist stops were complete. We had used Elizabeth's 5th grade National Parks Pass for 4 different parks this trip! Last year, we used her 4th grade pass for 2 parks. They don't always issue the pass for 5th graders, but due to Covid, they let both 4th and 5th graders have a pass this year.
