Tennis @ Sageview 4/21

JV tennis had a match at the new high school in Pasco called Sageview.

It was a horrible day. Cloudy and severe winds. Elizabeth played #1 singles and had to figure out how to play in the wind. The coach told me that windy days are actually harder on the better players and that seemed definitely true in this match.

Elizabeth ended up winning 8-6.

I didn't take many pictures since I was trying to huddle out of the wind. It was warm. Just ridiculously windy.

Track@ Kennewick 4/16

I left Elizabeth's tennis match early and got to Kennewick right as Nathan was stepping to the line to run the 1600! He ran it in 5:25.

Then, he threw the discus.

Last, he decided to run the 200 and got a PR! He ran 26.

Tennis@ Richland 4/16

Tennis had a match at Richland. Elizabeth played #1 singles. They only played to 6 points today since there were so many teams.

It was SUCH a close match. The two players were basically evenly matched. They were at 5-5. Then, they went all the way until 40-40 and Elizabeth lost that very lost point. She said she wasn't too sad as it was basically a tie. So she lost 6-5.

I then scooted over to Kennewick to watch Nathan's track meet.

Elizabeth then played a doubles match and she won!

Tennis @ Pasco 4/14

This was a rough match. Elizabeth was still greatly struggling with lack of strength and fatigue after her bout with the flu. She just couldn't move around the court and had no strength in her shots.  The wind was also blowing like crazy and it was cold and yucky. I didn't take any pictures as she was having such a rough time.

Elizabeth played #1 singles and lost 3-8.

CWU Invite 4/10

Nathan had a meet the Friday of Spring Break in Ellensburg at CWU. We had never gone to this invite before. They had high school students compete on Friday and college students compete on Saturday. There was NO WIND which was shocking and it was quite warm! Not bad for April in Ellensburg.

Nathan ran the 2000 steeplechase. He ran it in 8:01.

The grandfathers were in rough shape! Both recovering from surgeries. Papa Norm had skin cancer removed from his nose and Papa Ray had shoulder surgery.

Grandma was there too. The other grandma was accidentally told the meet was Saturday. It wasn't me that made the mistake!

Nathan getting some coaching advice before the race.

Nathan was easy to pick out during the race. Black uniforms were very popular so he stood out.

He did really well with all the water jumps.

April Fools!

April did not come in well for this family.

Nathan started feeling weird on Monday the 30th. He had a fever and didn't go to school Tuesday.

Wednesday, Kennewick tennis  cancelled their tennis match against us as they were on spring break and didn't plan ahead to check on that.

The track team traveled all the way to Hermiston for a meet that looked to be rainy. Unfortunately, Nathan was home sick still with a fever. I had him go to urgent care on Wednesday as the fever had been hanging on for 2 days. They tested him and he has Influenza B. It was slightly too late to give him Tamiflu. The doctor said after a horrible Influenza A season, the Influenza B is now kicking in really strong around here.

The track team began their meet in Hermiston on the 1st without Nathan. I knew the weather was supposed to be rainy but apparently things got SO bad they cancelled the meet after the 100's. Nathan would have been warming up and then the meet was have been cancelled and that would have been frustrating. He was almost glad he was sick!

Then, Richland tennis decided they wanted to cancel the tennis match on Thursday the 2nd as they just didn't feel like playing.

Very strange week with not a lot of sports!

As I type this on Saturday the 4th, Nathan is STILL sick and has a fever. The doctor told him the fever would be at least 4 days with this strain of influenza B. He's never been this sick for so long and it's really frustrating. He missed 4 days of school this week which is serious as a senior as he has a lot of work he needs to make sure is done. Hopefully, he'll be starting to turn around in the next few days.

Update: April 4th, Elizabeth got a headache and fever. I got her to urgent care as fast as possible. She tested positive for Influenza B and has just started her Tamiflu.

Update: Everyone eventually recovered but it took a while and hurt Elizabeth's next tennis match. She lost because she didn't have her energy back.

Pippa's Ice Cream Party

Pippa had an ice cream party. However, the party had a sad ending. Pippa had turned 14 in June. The lifespan of a doodle her size is 12-14...
