The first cross country meet for the Hanford kids is always the Hanford Jamboree. It's a 2 mile run around Leslie Groves Park.
We haven't had wildfire smoke ALL summer and then literally the day of the meet it arrived and hovered around AQI 150 which is about the cutoff for canceling outside sports. It stayed there and the kids ran anyway. When I got home, my throat did feel a little scratchy and Jeremy's eyes itched. It was also around 150 all day Saturday but as I write this on Sunday, things are back to normal. I hope it stays this way!
The purple swarm warming up! For the Hanford Jamboree, they don't run varsity and JV. They just all run together.
The girls are off!
Elizabeth pushing into the chute. She had a great race and said her shins didn't hurt at all!
Nathan and the 11/12 boys warming up. They split the boys race in half as there are just too many.
They're off!
Into the chute with Papa Norm watching. Auntie Laura was somewhere there too. Gram had to stay home as her lungs cannot handle the smoke.
BFF's after the race.
