Welcome to the Ballet

Nathan and Elizabeth like to run around the house listening to classical music. Recently, Elizabeth has taken to wearing her tutu dress. Nathan decided that he wanted to wear a tutu as well. (I think it makes him look like Tarzan.) They like to spin. Clearly, they are having fun with their ballet.
Here's an example of some beautiful choreography.
Apparently, the ballet is a tragedy.

Park Play!

It was finally 50 degrees outside so we decided it was warm enough to play outside for an extended period of time. The wind was blowing though so it was chilly, but we're so tired of being cooped up inside! We headed down to the elementary school for playtime. We haven't been since September. It's amazing how much more agile and capable Elizabeth is!

Elizabeth was a bit apprehensive about the slides.

Nathan was not.

Even if you're 32 you can still be a good climber.

Your sliding skills may have deteriorated though...

Can we call it floor art?

Well, we had a good run. We put all new carpet in the house when we bought it almost 6 years ago.

For having two small kids over the last 6 years, the carpet has held up really well and has surprisingly few noticeable stains.

So it's just our luck that months before we need to sell (hopefully), a certain 2 year old decided that it would be a good idea to find nail polish...it looks like pink ink.

We've scrubbed and scrubbed with acetone. It looks a lot better than it did. We really hope a professional carpet cleaner can get this out. We really don't want to have to pay to replace the carpet.

I wonder if Little Cat Z might be available? He's good at removing pink stains.

Cougars!

We've been cleaning and throwing out a LOT of stuff we don't want to move. While throwing out old clothes, we found a perfectly new 1998 Rose Bowl shirt. Doesn't it fit Elizabeth perfectly? Nathan happened to be wearing a Cougar shirt too.

Poor Auntie Laura

For Christmas, Laura got me a gift card to the movies. Part of the gift was that she will babysit the kids while we go. Today is that day. Here's a conversation that happened earlier.

Nathan: Poor Auntie Laura.
Me: Why?
Nathan (shaking his head): She is going to be WORN OUT.

We'll see how she feels when we get back!

Jokes

Nathan: I have a joke. Why did the music teacher need a ladder?
Me: Why?
Nathan: To get to the high notes.
Me: You need to tell that joke to Bryan when you see him. He will love it.
Nathan: He'll love it so much I wonder if he'll get the hiccups?
Me: Probably not.
Nathan: Well, you never know.

Bowling

The preschool took a field trip. We went bowling! It was Nathan and Elizabeth's first time bowling. Since we went on a Thursday morning, it was not too crowded and the kids got to share 4 lanes. I believe Nathan's final score was a 53. He got better and better as he bowled! They used a 6 pound ball. It was pretty cute.

Excited Nathan!

Elizabeth was not interested in bowling. She wanted to sit on my lap and eat snacks.

She also wanted to go potty about 5 times and wash her hands in every sink.

Yup, we spent a lot more time washing our hands than we did bowling.

Trip to the Grandparents

We made a fun trip to visit the grandparents in Royal! Here are some of the highlights.

Nathan learning all about the cultivator.

Tractor driving is always a big hit with Nathan. He's getting pretty good at it too! Elizabeth is not a fan yet. She definitely looks apprehensive in this picture!

Brushing her teeth in Gram's sink.

Sad that she's out of cake. Gram always has cake at her house!

Grandma Pam came over to play too! Here she is playing "Guess Who" with Nathan. Nathan is now a master at the game.

The neighbors had a bunch of little lambs. They were so cute. Here's Nathan shoving some hay through the fence. Not many would come over. The Mommy sheep wanted nothing to do with us because they were so busy protecting their babies!

Elizabeth looking at the lambs. She said, "I love them."

Dinnertime Discussions

Elizabeth: My balloon almost flew out the door Nathan! It went to the deck! Mama grabbed it. It was going to go all the way to Jim's house!! Mama got it and brought it back inside and put it on the couch.

Nathan: You talk a lot Elizabeth.

Shopping

The kids love shopping at Yokes because they have these awesome little carts. They also love the stores that have the car carts, but think these are even better. It's so fun to push around your own little cart and put stuff in. When the store isn't crowded, it's the best!!

St. Patrick's Day

The kids had a fun time celebrating St. Patrick's Day at preschool!

Elizabeth is potty trained!

A week ago, Elizabeth told us she wanted to start wearing undies. I went and bought a package of little undies thinking she might have fun playing with them. Since money is very tight right now, getting rid of diapers also seemed like a good way to save a lot of money!

We never dreamed that a week later, she'd be potty trained! She just took right to potty training. As you can see in the photos, she had an older brother who sat right next to her while she used her potty chair. He helped her get her stickers.

After about the first day, she didn't want stickers anymore. She just looked at me and said "I have enough." She was potty trained in about 3 days.

She keeps her undies dry all day. She's even dry after naps (although I've been putting a diaper on her just in case...) She's still wet in the morning, but that is no big deal. That's just one diaper a day!

She's pretty proud and we're pretty excited to almost be completely done with diapers forever!

I hesitated to post this. With my luck, she'll backslide next week and be back in diapers. But somehow I doubt it! She wants to be a big girl and wants to wear her undies!

We are on Spring Break and my memories popped up with a picture from exactly 10 years ago. We aren't traveling this year and since it wa...
