Washington Lavender Farm

Since we had to cancel our big summer trip due to coronavirus, we took an in state trip to see places we had not seen before! We decided to take  a journey around the Olympic Peninsula. 

We began our journey by heading over the mountains and going over the Tacoma Narrows bridge over to the peninsula. We drove up and around to Sequim and Port Angeles. 

Our first stop was Washington Lavender Farm. It was so pretty and smelled so good! Jeremy cut some lavender to dry and put in his pens. I enjoyed looking at the pretty views.

Whitman Mission

We drove down to Walla Walla. Jeremy wanted to visit a specialty hardwood store to buy some wood for his woodworking. We also wanted to take Elizabeth to the Whitman Mission. 4th graders study Washington State history. The big 4th grade field trip was going to Fort Walla Walla and the Whitman Mission. However, those did not happen this year due to covid. We figured we could at least take her to the Whitman Mission since Fort Walla Walla was closed. 

We walked to the top of a hill to check out the monument for the Whitmans.

After that, we drove home. That took less than an hour. It was a good daytrip! 

Drive from Palouse Falls to Walla Walla.

After visiting Palouse Falls, we headed south to Walla Walla. We stopped to eat lunch at Lyons Ferry State Park. Another very quiet, peaceful place.

Elizabeth was mad wasps were coming after her lunch. Nathan killed one. 

We stopped in the town on Starbuck on the way. Jeremy was hoping to get some coffee. They didn't have any so he got a pop. 

We think this was the old jail!! There were cells inside. It was a cute little town. 

The drive between Starbuck and Walla Walla was very remote. We stopped a few times to look around and savor the quiet. Elizabeth did not know how to savor the quiet. 

We saw this really neat rainbow cloud!!! The colors aren't as good in the picture, but it was cool! 

Palouse Falls

We were supposed to be at the Grand Canyon today. Since we couldn't be there, we took an easy 90 minute drive to another canyon that had a waterfall in it! We visited Palouse Falls which is the official waterfall of Washington state. It was a fun little trip!  There were just a handful of other people there so we had a nice peaceful time. 

Lewiston

We decided to drive home the Lewiston way. 

We made it to Idaho!
