Curly Hair and Color Coding

Elizabeth discovered if she puts curl cream in her hair and uses a diffuser that she can have curly hair for the day

Also, I have been very impressed with her color coded plan to keep track of her summer running miles. She had to get to 170 miles. She kept track by using colors to represent different amounts of miles ran. She mapped it out by week.

Her shins have been a lot better. They are not perfect, but we've found taking more iron supplements seems to be helping.

Snoqualmie Falls Hike

I had a doctor's appointment in Issaquah. Jeremy and Elizabeth came with me! Nathan was working at his job. After my appointment, we decided to hike to the bottom of Snoqualmie Falls. It was a hot day but we made it!

During my appointment, Jeremy and Elizabeth found blackberries that were perfectly ripe! They picked 4 large soup bowls of these tasty berries!

Royal City Library new building opening

Auntie Laura is the librarian of the Royal City Library. They built a new library and moved in. They had their grand opening after their parade on Saturday.

We helped Auntie Laura set up a few last things before the Grand Opening.

We also picked a lot of cherries before heading back home!

Royal Summerfest Fun Run

We went up to Royal for their Summerfest. We left after Nathan was done with work on Friday afternoon. Interesting have to work around his schedule now! He got a paid high school internship with Pacific Northwest National Lab and has been working full time all summer!

We got to Royal in time to have dinner at Gram's and then head down for the evening fun run.

Before the run.

My pictures loaded backwards but here is Nathan finishing the race. He got 2nd overall!  He was only beat by Royal's #1 cross country runner which made a lot of sense. He was 2nd in his age group as well.

The race was entirely uphill for the first part and then completely downhill at the end. Here is he coming in to the finish.

Here's back at the beginning of the race.

Elizabeth finishing up her race.

The race was only 2 miles long. She had planned on doing 3 miles today so she came home to Gram's and finished up what she hadn't done. For summer cross country running, Nathan had to run 200 miles and Elizabeth had to run 170. If they did this, they would get to go to the Olympia Invite. As I write this post, they both made their miles!

We came home and picked raspberries.

4th of July

We had another West Richland 4th of July complete with what seemed like unlimited fireworks. The weather was cooler than normal and the wind was blowing. The wind kept the firework smoke blowing so it didn't settle and make the air hazy. However, from our rooftop viewpoint, we saw 2 fires start. We saw firetrucks and emergency vehicles racing to the two scenes to put out the fires. They did and no houses were damaged. Uncle Brian and Brady and Beau came along with Aunt Carol.

Earlier that day, Elizabeth and Nathan went boating with Uncle Brian to kick off the 4th of July and then everyone arrived at our house later!

Jeremy came home and Brady and Beau got a police car tour.

I was trying to capture how pretty the sunset was here.

Elizabeth had a friend party.

Nathan lit a few fireworks and then watched the scene from the rooftop.

A few ground fireworks to show the nephews.

Scooterrides.

Having some BBQ for dinner.

I just watched the fireworks this year and didn't take any videos or pictures of the fireworks themselves. Carol took a few from the ground. She took Beau back home while Brian and Brady stayed with us.

Hanford Jamboree 9/5

The first cross country meet for the Hanford kids is always the Hanford Jamboree. It's a 2 mile run around Leslie Groves Park.  We haven...
