Portland Orchestra

 

The Libby Orchestra went on a field trip to see the Portland Symphony. Jeremy took Elizabeth and a friend and her Dad in our van. The bus was full and the teacher let parents drive if they wanted! They stopped off at Multnomah Falls on the way. Jeremy may have more pictures I will add to the blog later. They had a great time!! 

Northern Lights-An Amazing Show!

We had an amazing show of the Northern Lights on May 10. I had seen the Northern lights only once before probably about 20 years ago in Royal City. We saw on the news the lights might make an appearance all over the world tonight and they sure did! I guess people saw them as far south as Florida. Pictures were all over the internet from all around the world. It was very, very neat. 

I kept checking and finally about 10:30, I saw some flashes of green in the sky. Luckily, it was a Friday night so the kids and I didn't have school the next morning. I went and woke everyone up so we could watch. Jeremy had to work the next morning but we all watched for a little while. I stayed out for about an hour. This is a once in a 20 year experience! Not to mention it was actually warm outside! It seems these usually tend to show up in the middle of the winter at 3:00 in the morning so it's not something we see. However, it was 65 degrees at only 11 pm so it was worth it to sit outside and watch! 

It was neat how the colors would just come and move around. It would go from green and then purples would show up. In general, the green seemed to be lower and the purples up above.

One of our neighbors is a professional photographer and was at the Middle School Championships. He was nice enough to take some pictures of Elizabeth's 400 start as well!

Richland Middle School Championship

The Richland School districts championships were at Hanford this year. The 4 Richland middle schools were all there. Elizabeth was busy again and competed in 4 events. She ran the 4x200, 400, SMR and threw the discus. There were a lot of people taking pictures during this meet, so I will be posting more than usual.

Next up was the 400! I have much better pictures of that in another post that some friends took. She ran 1:18. Again, she had just finished the 4x200.

Getting ready for the SMR. This was the very last race of the season. Interestingly, Elizabeth was the very last person to cross the finish line of the entire season! They ran against 2 boys teams, so obviously they got last place, but first place for the girls! 

Done with the middle school track season as Elizabeth finished it off!
