Nathan's second league meet was this week. He missed the first league meet due to covid.
This week, he ran on JV #2. JV #2 are the boys who are faster than JV #1 boys. Obviously, Varsity is the fastest.
The coaches had 11 boys run on JV #2 this week. Here they are warming up for the race. 21 boys had run on JV #1. They ran their race first, and then it was time for JV #2 to warm up. After Nathan's race, the 7 varsity boys did their run.
JV #2 lining up to race.
Nathan running the course. It was flat and fast. Unfortunately for him, at one point, he tripped on a tree root and rolled his ankle. He stopped for a bit to make sure he was ok and then continued running. He estimates he lost 20 seconds doing this. He also got spiked twice! He said one hurt his toe really badly.
Coming into the finish line around the final turn.
His time was 18:47. He was mad he lost 20 seconds.
In his race, he got 41 out of 89. He figures he would have placed around 25th place if he hadn't tripped.
If he had run in JV #1, he would have beat everyone. So for overall JV people, he placed 41 out of 178.
For freshman, he placed 19 out of 80.
Visiting with Papa and Gram after the race telling them of his tree root and spike problems.
Fan of the week was his friend Sarah!
Sarah and her brother and Mom came to watch him run! Thanks fans!
With his friend Malek. Malek is also a freshman. He placed 1 out of 80 freshman. He is very fast and on varsity.
Here are some pictures other parents took from other locations in the race.
He's always surrounded by Richland Bombers for some reason!
