Halloween

Elizabeth and her two friends dressed as matching unicorns and went trick r treating.

Nathan wore random things and stayed home to pass out candy.

Pretty Fall Colors

It's been a really nice fall so far. The colors are pretty, the sun has been out, and it's warm out in the afternoons. I took this pretty picture on Friday. You'll notice a big spider that Nathan welded in metals class! He used pumpkins for the body.

High School League Championship Meet

It was a beautiful day for Nathan's last meet of the year. It was about 76 degrees out with no wind and lots of sun!
Nathan had some fans come! Papa Ray and Peaches came along with Papa Norm and Gram. I failed at getting pictures with them but they were there.
Nathan had a rough race. There were 201 JV boy at the start line (they did not split them up like last week). He fell not long after the start of the race due to the huge amount of boys. They got tangled up. He had a spike cut on his leg and had to scramble back up and try to make up time despite his leg stinging and hurting. Then, he fell AGAIN down near the volleyball courts.
Despite these hardships, he still finished 16 out of the 201 JV boys. He finished 4 out of 38 JV Hanford boys.  His time was 19:23 which wasn't his best BUT that was ok. This wasn't a PR course anyway as it's slow. If he hadn't fallen, he probably would have gotten somewhere between 10th and 15th place, but in the end it doesn't matter for him as he wasn't moving on to districts anyway.
He had a great season and had some huge PR's so that's all that mattered! He worked hard and made it to Portland. He made some new friends. He had some great bus trips and some races where he felt so proud of how much he had improved.

JV warmups!

Waiting for the start.

Trying to make up time after his falls.

Finish line sprint!

JV team picture. Nathan is right in the middle with the sunglasses.

Another amazing parent took pictures so here is another start pictures. I guess their shoes were interesting.

Nathan yawning. He didn't have a great night's sleep. Also, that other boy is jumping. He's not really that tall. He is tall though!

I thought it was funny how Nathan looks to be smiling in the picture.

I like this picture right next to the river.

Spike injury.

Another beautiful day!

Middle School Championship Meet-Leslie Groves Park

Elizabeth had her last middle school race of the year!  Her shin was really hurting again, but she decided to run on it anyway and let it heal over the next several months.  I'm so glad she ran! She got a 19:04 for her 2 mile race and it was a huge PR for her.

Swinging with her team before the race.

I took a little walk since I was there early. It was a really pretty day and about 75 degrees.

At the start!

And they are off!

Sprinting to the finish line.

One of the fun parts about the last middle school race of the year is that it's at Leslie Groves Park which is really close to Hanford High School. During the last meet of the year, the high schoolers come running down to the park to "recruit" 8th graders for next year. I saw the girls group come running down the trail first and entered the park. A while later, here came the boys thundering down from the north to recruit the 8th graders. I came across this group of hooligans after they showed up. The one in the middle DID cheer her sister on as she ran her race. I saw a few of the other boys also running alongside their little middle sisters as they ran their races cheering them on! It was so cute.

Lawrence Scott Park MCC Meet: 10/12

Nathan ran the league meet at Lawrence Scott Park. It was a 3 mile rather than a 5K.  He had a GREAT race and smashed his PR from this race that was last year.

He ran 17:36 for 3 miles. That is nearly a minute faster than last year. In theory, the handbook states if you run under 18:00 for 3 miles you letter in Cross Country. So he may have lettered today!

He ran in the JV 2 race. That was the race for the faster JV boys.

He ran 21 out of 98 boys in JV 2.  JV 1 had 113 boys and he would have won that race. If for some reason he was running varsity, he would have gotten 48 out of 62.

Some pictures of the team warming up.

You can see Nathan. He still has his t-shirt on and is wearing one spike and one regular shoe.

At the start practicing striders.

Another race where they had to wait a long time at the start.

Nathan must have said something controversial here.

On your mark!

Blast! I'm not sure if this was the first or second start. The first start had a false start as someone fell so they had to redo it.

Most of these amazing pictures were taken by my friend.

Sprint for the finish!

He managed to hold off the Kamiakin runner.

Bonfire

Jeremy and Nathan went up to Ellensburg for a bonfire. Elizabeth was really sick and I stayed home with her. Jeremy took a few photos. Nath...
