Nathan ran the required 250 miles over the summer to qualify for the Olympia Invite. Jeremy took the day off and the 3 of us followed the bus over. We actually followed them to a grocery store in North Bend and went and said hi to Nathan before we went on our way to Olympia.
It was a beautiful drive over!
My favorite part is this brief moment when you cross the cascades. This view is so pretty!
The Olympia invite isn't a varsity/JV race. They race the 2 miles by grade level so Nathan ran in the sophomore group. 4 Hanford boys ran the required miles to get to Olympia so here they are in their warm up waiting for the race.
10th grade Hanford doing their warmups.
Getting some race advice from Coach P before the start.
They are off!
Nathan coming into the finish line. He ran the same for 2 miles as he did last week. 12:05 for 2 miles. He was disappointed he didn't get a faster time, but he had slept for barely 3 hours the night before and was exhausted. He does not sleep in hotels-especially the first night and he just had no energy to improve his time. I was just happy he managed to get the same time running on no sleep!
Getting consoled by his 10th grade teammate.
Leon and Zynab and kids drove over to watch the race!!! It's always so nice to see them and catch up! Hopefully next year as well!
I got 4 purple and gold pom poms. Elizabeth tied 2 to her shoes and carried the other 2. It was quite the hit cheerleading outfit! She got a lot of compliments on her fun idea.
He placed 26th of 117th sophomore boys who ran.
He placed 3/4 on the Hanford 10th grade team. This one we predicted with confidence the order of results.
