Mariners vs. Red Sox

Nathan is a Red Sox fan. He was very excited to see them win the World Series last year and wanted to see them play. Obviously, we were not going back to Boston so when we saw they were coming to Seattle, we bought tickets! It also happened to be opening weekend and the day we picked was Kids Day on Sunday. It was also the week of Spring Break so we didn't need to worry about rushing home for school on Monday. Papa Norm and Gram came too of course since Papa Norm is a Mariners fan.  We took the van since it fit all of us.

Seal Lake was still iced over.  (It's really called Lake Ketchuss)

We saw some skiers up at Snoqualmie.

Nathan wore his Mariners shirt and a Red Sox hat. Talk about confusing!

The kids watched some Spongebob in the back of the van and laughed quite a lot.

Safeco Field became T-Mobile Park over the winter.

Since it was kids day, they let the kids have a "parade" around the field. We got to walk everywhere and then parade down around the field!

The kids ran up to the very tip top of the stadium.

This was the biggest TV they had ever seen!

After starting at the very top of the stadium, we walked down a million stairs to get to the very bottom.

Now we got to look up into the stadium.

The game started with a lot of hits and runs!  The Red Sox scored 3 runs in their very first inning. The Mariners scored 7 runs in the 3rd inning.

We used binoculars to watch up close.

This was Nathan's face when the Red Sox were losing by quite a bit. Eventually, (even though the Seattle pitchers walked 4 batters in a row in the 9th inning), the Mariners beat the Red Sox 10-8. The Mariners won 3 out of 4 games against the World Series champions!

The pretty drive across Lake Washington on the way home.
