League Championship Walla Walla 5/15

Surprise!  Nathan had one last race. We had all thought he was retired, but then he got the call up. His 3200 time was fast enough to send him on to the MCC Championship race. He was ranked 17/18 so he barely squeaked in.
The race was in Walla Walla. It was cold and it rained on and off. Of course, Nathan's race was one of the last of the night and the weather decided that it was a good time to pour rain on and off during his race. He was soaked and no doubt very cold! There haven't been too many meets of his career where I've needed an umbrella but this was for sure one of them.
The only people left in the stands by this point where the parents. That was obvious!
He ran his real final race in 11:10. I thought it was hilarious he threw up his arms at the finish line like "DONE!"
He's officially retired now.

Everyone ready at the start line!

Nathan had his final track meet of his career. It was at the Richland Twilight meet. He ran the 1600, threw the discus, and ran the 200 for his final race.  Jeremy, Elizabeth and I plus Papa Norm and Gram were all there to watch!

Finishing his last ever mile race.

Tennis vs Kamiakin 5/4

The last tennis match of the season was against Kamiakin. One of the Hanford JV seniors really wanted to play singles for a match so the coach said that was fine.  Therefore, Elizabeth got bumped down to play a doubles match.  They won 8-2!

She had a great tennis season and improved so much! She's looking forward to taking a lot of tennis lessons over the summer to keep getting better.

JV Tennis Tournament at Kamiakin 5/2

Hanford JV tennis had a tournament today. It was a really interesting day!

Elizabeth played the #2 singles spot for Hanford. She ended up winning the silver medal for the entire #2 spot! There were 10 girls total playing for the top spot!

All 10 schools in the league were there. She had to play all the #2 singles players in her pool of 5. There were two pools of 5 girls for 10 players total. They played first to four points was the winner.

She beat the other 4 girls in her pool to reach the finals. She was the only girl to go 4-0! Here were her wins that got her to the gold medal round.

Chiawana 4-1

Walla Walla 4-3

Sageview 4-2

Southridge: 4-0

The other pool had Richland, Kennewick, Kamiakin, Hermiston, and Pasco.

Elizabeth played the Richland girl from the other pool for the gold medal and lost 4-2. It was hot and I think she was about to faint, but she played hard. The Richland girl was the same girl who had barely beat her a few weeks before when they played Richland.

She was so happy and proud of her silver medal!

Hanford tennis won the whole thing overall!  They won both the #1 and #2 doubles gold medals and Elizabeth won silver for the #2 singles.

Elizabeth had some fans!

Match #1

Match #2

Match #3

Match #4

Below are a few pictures of her gold medal game against Richland.

They stopped for a water break. It was really hot by that point especially out on the courts. Elizabeth says her feet really start burning on hot days.

The bracket. You can see that Hanford won the top pool and Richland won the bottom pool so those 2 girls played each other for gold.

Happy with her silver medal.

With some of the other girls who won medals for hanford!

Big lockers in the locker rooms at Kamiakin!

Track at Hermiston Invite 5/1

Nathan ran the  Steeplechase at the Hermiston Twilight Invite. The steeplechase was the very first event. It was his second time running the steeplechase here in Hermiston. He had a PR! 11:39. It was also his last ever steeplechase.

I will post the photos first and the videos at the end.

Last Day of School 12th Grade

Nathan had his last day of high school!   We took these pictures right after he got home from school. At the end of the day, he got to go ...
