Christmas Eve Eve

We did our family Christmas celebration today. Jeremy starts his workweek tomorrow and we never know when he will be home from work in the evenings, so we made sure to celebrate on his day off!

However, Nathan was sick. He was sick yesterday with coughing and a sore throat and a fever and when he woke up this morning, his temperature was 103. We called the doctor and they said to keep him on ibuprofen and tylenol. He laid around most of the day. However, by the afternoon, he perked up a bit and his fever went away. We opened presents and he actually ate some Christmas dinner. He hadn't eaten much of anything for nearly 2 days.

In front of our tree. Nathan was in his pajamas all day.

Opening presents! Elizabeth was so excited to get a rock tumbler. It was her second favorite present...after the box of rocks I got her which she was thrilled about. This kid LOVES rocks.

Jeremy opening a present.

Elizabeth with her presents.

Nathan with his presents. He's wearing his Davy Crockett dress up clothes he got for Christmas. He was very excited to get his new bb gun and some camo clothes so he can hunt those yucky pigeons at Papa Norm's!

Nathan wanted to show off his new gun and his new army helmet. He loves historical hats and says he loves adding to his "historical hats collection". His favorite has been his Civil War hat, but he seems to be really loving his army helmet. He's been wearing it all day and tried to go to sleep in it but it wasn't comfortable.

He wanted to do a serious pose. Also, these are new pajamas he got for Christmas as well.

Church Music Program

Last Sunday was the Christmas music program at church. I did not help in Elizabeth's class this year, so I had to take pictures from afar!

She's in the purple dress. 1st graders wear the king crowns.

Leaving her performance.

105 degrees

It's been cold at our house lately. Not as cold as most places have been, but cold for us.

Today, Jeremy checked the thermometer in our house. It keeps track of the highest and lowest temperatures of the year. We had a good laugh as he clicked through the buttons.

The highest temperature our thermometer hit this year was 107 (in August).

The lowest temperature our thermometer hit this year was 2 (today).

In one year, our temperature can vary 105 degrees. That seems pretty incredible to me! But then, I suppose we live in the desert and deserts are known for extreme temperature variations.

I don't know how accurate the thermometer actually is. It's in the shade right next to the house. So our summer temps could actually have been higher in the summer if it had been placed in the sun. Also, our winter temperature could have really been a little lower since the thermometer is right next to the warm house.

Our temperature spread could possibly be 110 degrees!

King and Queen of the Mountain

We went to the library today. The kids found a snow mountain that is bigger than the one we have at home. We didn't play long though. The temperature was in the single digits.

Friday 2 hour delay

School was delayed today. Elizabeth wanted to sled outside. She didn't stay out for more than probably 20 minutes though. It was pretty cold! The next two days are supposed to be extremely cold so even though we've got fun snow, I don't think they'll be out much.

Thursday Snow Day #2

Well, it was another no school day today. That's the second this week!

We got another 4-6 inches of snow last night depending on where we measured in the yard.

Looks like we'll have to make up 2 days of school this spring. No more snow is in the forecast so hopefully they will be back to school tomorrow!

They've have great fun playing in the snow though. They've been out for hours and hours today too. The weather is supposed to get ridiculously cold beginning tomorrow so they won't have much outside play time.

They built their own big mountain to sled down.

A visit from Grandma Pam

Grandma Pam has to work on Christmas so she came down and the kids had an early Christmas!

Nathan opened a neat dinosaur puzzle.

A fun new toothbrush.

A rock! Elizabeth loves rocks!

The kids had fun with Grandma. She brought some tinsel to decorate and they made special Christmas ornaments too!

Pippa's Ice Cream Party

Pippa had an ice cream party. However, the party had a sad ending. Pippa had turned 14 in June. The lifespan of a doodle her size is 12-14...
