Basketball Camp

Elizabeth did a 4 day (1 hour a day) basketball camp. The local high school put it on. She had a lot of fun! It was her first experience with basketball. The first day she made no baskets and was sad. On the third day, she made 21 baskets! She learned quickly!

She is in the pink shirt and rainbow shorts.

Whitman Mission and Fort Walla Walla

The 4th graders studied Washington State history this year. The end of the year field trip was to Walla Walla. We visited the Whitman Mission and Fort Walla Walla. It was barely an hour bus ride so it was pretty fast.

At Fort Walla Walla, the kids learned about how wheat was harvested in the "old days." They learned about mules and old threshing machines.

They had some old jail cells from the old penitentiary. They kids thought they were great.

Fort Walla Walla had a village set up with a school, barbershop, blacksmith shop, livery. old log homes, etc.

Nathan's class at the one room schoolhouse.

We had our lunch at Fort Walla Walla and then drove over to the Whitman Mission National Historical Site.

The kids walked the foundation of the Whitman Mission. They had a map of where the rooms were.

Their teacher read out of a book about the events that happened at the Whitman Mission as the kids sat in the room where it all happened.

Nathan and friends.

There was a turtle in the pond.

The part of the Oregon trail that branched up to Walla Walla.

The gravesite.

The class walked up to the monument. I stayed with the backpacks and clipboards.

The trail was so pretty.

Spring Piano Recital

The kids had their spring piano recital last week. Their piano teacher is moving so it was her last recital. Nathan has also decided to stop taking piano lessons after 3 years. He doesn't enjoy it that much and says he's not really a music person. He gave it a try though for 3 whole years so that is something!

We are in the process of finding a new piano teacher for Elizabeth for next year.

Exciting Adventures at Papa and Gram's

When we were at Papa and Gram's, the kids did many exciting things.

They used binoculars to watch the neighbors bale.

Pippa strutted about.

Nathan biked around.

Auntie Laura did some amazing artwork on Elizabeth's nails!

Elizabeth looked for shells.

Pippa did some supervising.

Elizabeth loves to watch the end guns.

Walking over the scary bridge.

The whirlpool is still there!!

Picking some flowers for Auntie Laura. Apparently, these are actually sometimes used in bouquets!

Checking out Papa's wheat.

Wheat lessons.

Pippa's Ice Cream Party

Pippa had an ice cream party. However, the party had a sad ending. Pippa had turned 14 in June. The lifespan of a doodle her size is 12-14...
