We wanted to visit Mt. Rainier this year. Next year, they will start only allowing people to enter on a timed reservation system. You will have to pick a day and a time to enter the park weeks or months ahead of time. We wanted to enter freely so we went! The park is terribly overcrowded so that is why they are setting up a reservation system.
We drove over on a Sunday. Whoops. We aren't used to heading west on a Sunday and forgot about the Sunday traffic heading west. We are used to heading east and so forgot what it was like. We waited for a long time.
We stopped to visit our friends at Lake Sawyer and the kids went paddleboarding and the parents got to ride on a boat.
Nathan testing out his paddle.
They're up! I think Nathan fell in shortly after this.
Lois and I on the boat.
Jeremy enjoying the ride.
Jean and Elizabeth just floating.
Elizabeth had a great time swimming.
A nice dinner on the deck!
We then continued on our way down to Packwood. This was a pretty forested rest area.
Mt. Rainier peeking out from behind the clouds.
The roads were empty at 9 pm.
A very beautiful view.
