Evening at the Track

We spend a lot of summer evenings biking, scooting and running around the area. Nathan likes to practice running his mile at the track after dinner. His fastest time so far is 8:40ish. He's running to get better at running.

Sometimes they also practice their long jumping!

He plays with his legos too.

Summer around home

Here are some things we do around here on a regular basis during the summer.

In the evenings, we take bike rides or walk around the area. We often see doodles. There is a doodle in the above picture. We call them the invasive species of West Richland!

Nathan has tennis lessons. Elizabeth likes to swim. We got to bring Charlotte a few times! They had a great time!

If we get to tennis early, Nathan likes to work out on the elliptical.

We had a great thunder and lightning storm that we watched.

Elizabeth likes to experiment with her hair.

Outing to Ellensburg

Grandma Pam had been needing Jeremy to cut down a bunch of trees for her. We went up for the day on her birthday so Jeremy could help her out.

Elizabeth playing by the creek.

Jeremy cut the trees and Nathan and Brian pulled them away.

Nathan taking a break.
Elizabeth went over to Brian and Karen's new house to help them unpack!

Chasing Kittens

A cat arrived at Papa and Gram's! They named her Polly and she is an excellent hunter and very friendly. She had a litter of kittens that are wild cats. They will not come near humans. Laura is trying to tame the cats and spends hours out in the shed trying to get them comfortable with her. We tried to help out.

Laura managed to grab this kitten and it clawed her to pieces before she got it all wrapped up. Thanks for getting scratched up Auntie Laura! Elizabeth was so excited to hold that little kitten.

We tried to wait quietly in the shed for the kittens to come out. Nathan read.

Elizabeth lounged around.

The kittens would scamper by but no one would come near the humans!

Peeking out at us. There are 5 kittens.

SummerFest Royal City

We visited the Summerfest festivities in Royal City.

We went to the BBQ on Friday night. Gram bought them cotton candy and they promised not to throw up.

The next morning, we went to the parade where they got some candy!

Braces are Off

Elizabeth's first phase orthodontics adventures is over. She had the braces put on in October and everything was moved into place by July.

Braces are still on.

Excited to get them off!!! They were always poking her in the back no matter how hard the orthodontic people tried to help.

Braces are off! She has a permanent retainer behind the front teeth to keep them in place for now. In a few years they will evaluate to see if she needs second phase orthodontics.

Allergy Testing

The kids had their annual allergy visit.

Elizabeth's allergies remain the same. She has severe allergy to peanuts, tree nuts and sunflower seeds. However, her eczema is FINALLY improving. This has been wonderful.  She's not scratching and bleeding nearly as much and her skin looks so much better!!!

Nathan still has his severe allergies to milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and kiwi. Over the last few years, he's also been unable to eat squash, pumpkin, bananas, peas and now apples.

He also has oral allergy syndrome which means that fresh fruits and vegetables can make his mouth itch to the point where he doesn't want to eat them. Watermelon, cantelope, baby carrots, avocado fall into this category.

Pictured above is a full allergy panel of environmental allergies. He's allergic to most everything in the environment except a few molds.

The doctor thinks starting him on allergy shots will help his oral allergy syndrome and will possibly allow him to eat some fruits and vegetables that we have had to cut out. He can't eat so many things that even being able to eat avocado again or watermelon would be a big help.

We ordered the allergy serum and he will have shots twice a week for awhile. We hope the pain isn't too much. Jeremy takes the shots and he feels it's helped with his oral allergy problems and with seasonal allergies.

Birthday #39

I had my 39th birthday! Mom made a yummy raspberry dessert.

We went down to the track like we do most nights. The kids like to run around and I walk laps.

On my birthday on 7/7 it was 77 degrees!

Elizabeth biking around.

Nathan and Jeremy ran a mile and sprinted to the finish.

Dad won by this much says Elizabeth.
