Geocoin Challenge

The kids and Jeremy did the Tri Cities Geocoin challenge. They had to find 8 geocaches (little treasure boxes) in each of the 4 Tri Cities for a total of 32 geocaches.  You use GPS to find a geogache. It is like a scavanger hunt. After you found all 32 geocaches and noted that you had found them, you got a prize!

They found one geocache in a little fridge.

They hiked around different areas finding geocaches.

They spent about 5 hours driving around all 4 cities looking for the geocaches. They had a lot of fun and really enjoyed it. This one was in a tube.

When they had found all 32 geocaches, they were able to go get their prize. It was a challenge coin. There were 425 coins available. By the time they got their coin, there were only 30 left so they did the challenge just in time. Good thing Jeremy heard about it before all the coins were gone!

The theme this year was "Taste of the Tri Cities." Each geocache had a food theme (which is why they found one in a little fridge) and each city had a different food theme.  Pasco was appetizers. Kennewick was main course. Richland was side dish. West Richland was desserts.  Here is the front of the coin.

Here is the back of the coin. It has each city symbol.

Proud of their GPS and treasure hunting skills!
