Dog Bite

I do a lot of walking and jogging in our neighborhood. On nice days, I am usually out there doing 2-4 miles a day. We've lived here 10 years and it finally happened. I was bit by a dog.

It was a beautiful evening and I was out having a very nice walk. As I walked by a house, the door was open and this little dog came running right out and just latched onto my ankle. It hurt and stung a lot and swelled. I was a mile from home so Jeremy had to come pick me up. Luckily, he was home otherwise I would have had a painful walk home.
The owner assured me the dog had all its vaccines so I wouldn't get rabies. The next day, I called the doctor and got some antibiotics sent in. They said dog saliva is gross and has a lot of bacteria in it. Thankfully, as I type this a few weeks later, I think it has healed. I couldn't take my walks for about 3-4 days because it hurt and stung and rubbed right on my shoe.
Interestingly, the owner told me the dog had just completed an intense training program because it had been biting. Looks like the training did not work!
I am nervous now whenever I come across unleashed dogs. I didn't notice as much before but now I certainly do. Before, when little dogs would come and jump on me I was annoyed but didn't want to kick out or anything in fear the dog owners would yell at me for being mean to their dog. After that bite, I will be kicking at any dog that comes my way.

Elizabeth final track meet 5/9-Richland School District Middle School Championship

Elizabeth had her final meet on May 9th at RHS. It was the Richland School District Middle School Championship and just had the 4 Richland middle schools. She threw the discus and ran the 400.

Here is her discus throwing.

She won the discus! She had the farthest throw at 52'9." She was so happy!!

About halfway through the meet, Nathan and some of the other boys from Hanford showed up to try to recruit 8th grade boys to run cross country and track next year at Hanford. In the above photo, I was trying to get a picture with Elizabeth and Nathan in the same picture and I did. Nathan is in the blue shirt with some other boys and Elizabeth is stretching preparing for her 400. They didn't interact though.

Elizabeth giving me a frowny face even though I'm way up in the stands. She gets way too nervous before races. She was waiting for her 400.

At the start line.

Coming into the finish. She ran a 1:17.

Getting her time at the end. Then, it was time for KONA ice and she was done with her season!

Amazing Clouds

I couldn't get over these HUGE clouds that built up as a storm was coming in!! They were incredible!!

They weren't around long. They blew out as soon as the wind came in. Pretty cool looking!

Nathan final track meet Richland Twilight

Nathan had his final track meet of the year. It was the Richland Twilight which is basically the JV Championship for the Tri Cities. He ran the 1600 and threw the discus. There were 4 heats of the 1600 run. The first heat to run was the fastest. He was in the second heat. He ended up getting 18th out of 52 with a time of 5:12. He was close to beating his PR of 5:10 but didn't get it today.
He was the only Hanford runner in his heat.

Off they go!

After the race, he changed into his yellow sweatshirt and went off to throw the discus. You can see him if you look very closely at this picture. He threw 57' 4" for his final throw of the year.

Nathan track meet-Chiawana 5/3

Nathan's last MCC meet was at Chiawana in Pasco. The teams running were Hanford, Chiawana, and Kamiakin. Nathan's coach put him in the 3200 again.  Nathan joked there were 50,000 Kamiakin boys in the race. They always have a huge distance team.

We missed his discus throw to being at Elizabeth's meet. We had quite the cheering crew there as he made those 8 laps. Auntie Laura, Papa Norm, Papa Ray, Jeremy, myself, my photographer friend, and his friend stood in various areas to cheer him and keep him going. So he was hit with 7 people cheering him on as he made his way around 8 times! His friend would run down the sideline with him as he went by every time.

Nathan said this track was terrible to run on and felt like running on concrete.

Starting line with 3 Hanford boys, 1 Chiawana, and 50,000 Kamiakin boys.

Cheering for him on my corner.

You can see his Hanford friend on the track here as he ran next to him cheering him on each lap.

Professional photos

Into the finish line. This would be the last 3200 he would run this year. He did it in 11:52 and threw the discus 64'11"

Fans of the week!

Elizabeth Track Meet-Enterprise 5/3

Elizabeth had a track meet at her school that was hosted by Enterprise. Enterprise's track is getting too old to safely hold meets. Libby, Enterprise, McLoughlin, and Carmichael were at the meet.

Elizabeth warming up for her race.

Nervous and not feeling too good about starting her 400. She ran it in 1:17. She doesn't really like it when pictures of her running are posted.

Throwing the discus. She threw 46'11"
