Owl Boxes

Papa Norm has 3 owl boxes. It was the time of year to clean them out so owls can lay eggs!

Here, Elizabeth is helping Jeremy clean out the first box near the house. No owls had lived here. It was full of junk pigeons had brought in.

Nathan, Papa and Jeremy went to clean the other 2 boxes. When Jeremy opened the 2nd box, 2 owls flew out! There were 3 eggs in that box. They didn't want to disturb the eggs so the box didn't get cleaned out.

The third box had nothing in it. How do you get owls to move into owl boxes?

Spring Break fun at Gram and Papa's

We went to the Mariners game with Papa Norm and Gram so we visited them at their house and the kids partook in some fun activities.

Elizabeth rode a rusty old bike that was quite challenging.

Nathan spent a lot of time driving and providing taxi services to and from places.

I'm not sure why he usually had the same passenger. I hope she gave good tips.

Elizabeth practiced a little driving with Papa and the permanent passenger.

She found the last of the snow! She stomped around in the slush and had great fun.

The canals weren't full yet so she set about to cross without getting water in her boots.

She did it! Her boots stayed dry!

Since her boots stayed dry, she set about to get all the tumbleweeds out of the canal for Papa.

It turns out there were too many tumbleweeds so she gave up.

Elizabeth was tired of pulling out tumbleweeds so we called for a taxi. The taxi driver was rather rude when we called and requested a ride. He sighed and said, "Fine."

The kids had quite an entertaining show that they sat down in the yard to watch. They laughed and laughed. Auntie Laura arrived and the minute she stepped out of her car, Pippa took off sprinting away. Laura had to chase her down the road in the Kubota as Pippa sprited away full speed. The kids thought it was a hilarious show.

Papa Norm had a fire.

Elizabeth pondering how to get rid of all those tumbleweeds.

Usain Bolt and Elizabeth

The kids helped Auntie Laura with some of her flower farming.

Gram's grandchildren having a ride!

Elizabeth practiced her target shooting. She did great!

Nathan practiced as well and also did really well.

Dress Uniform

A police officer in Kittitas County was killed in the line of duty. Jeremy and some other officers from his department went up for the procession and funeral. Jeremy had to wear his dress uniform so I took some pictures of him.

Third Grade Musical

The third grade did a musical called "Commotion in the Ocean." Elizabeth didn't have a part but she did sing in the choir. The kids all tried to dress as fish.

I found Elizabeth some fish scale leotards and pants. Charlotte was a blowfish. She had a speaking part and had to memorize a lot.

Funeral

We made it over for Uncle Ron's funeral. I didn't take many pictures because it was a funeral. I took a picture of all the family gravestones at the cemetery.

Here are the kids at the church after the service.

The only photo taken was by Jeremy. He snapped a quick photo of some of the girls in the family.

On the way home, Elizabeth got to open her birthday present from Auntie Laura.

It was a bow maker! She was very excited!

Snow Melt Progression Pictures

We had snow until nearly the end of March!!! We had the snowiest and coldest February ever. Things didn't get above freezing until around March 13 so that's when the big snow melt started. I took pictures to document the melt since we were so excited to see how much melted every day!

March 13-the snow finally started melting today!

March 17-Elizabeth was finally safely able to skate and bike in the roads!

March 19-We still couldn't bike or walk all the way around the block without running into snow on the north side of fences. Nathan just plowed through with his bike.

March 20-First day of spring! The snow is mostly just on the north sides of places now!!

March 21-Almost gone!

March 22-Just a few spots left. We left for the weekend so it was probably all gone on the 23rd or 24th. That's the longest I've seen snow on the ground here. I remember our BAD snow year in Spokane 10 years ago,  we didn't get rid of the snow until April 9.

Bonfire

Jeremy and Nathan went up to Ellensburg for a bonfire. Elizabeth was really sick and I stayed home with her. Jeremy took a few photos. Nath...
