Neverending February snow
Throughout February, we missed 6 full school days and had 3 delays. The weather would just not warm up to melt any snow. It was sunny most days. The days it wasn't sunny, it snowed! It's hard for the kids to walk to school. No one shovels their sidewalks so if they try to walk down the sidewalk they are trying to walk through a foot of crunchy snow. Walking in the streets is dangerous because of cars but also very slippery. I've been having to drive them to school. These pictures are from the 22nd. Snow kicking.

6th Months into the Braces Adventure
Elizabeth got her braces and expander put on in August. After about 6 months, she had her expander taken out today. She has enough space for her teeth to come in now.
Expander free mouth! She will now wear the braces for probably another 6-8 months to make things straight.

Elizabeth's new room!
Elizabeth has been asking for her room to be painted teal for a while now. We helped her pick out a paint color. Jeremy painted her room. For her birthday, Auntie Laura and Gram picked out new bedding and curtains. Since the weather prevented them from coming down on her birthday, we had to do the big surprise a week later.
Jedi Knight Nathan guarded her bedroom door so Elizabeth couldn't get in. Gram and Jeremy and I put all the new stuff together in her room. She loves it!!!

Neighborhood Sledding and Snowball Parties
The kids played a lot in our yard in the snow. I pulled Elizabeth around the block on her sled. She saw some of her friends from school sledding on the only small hill in our neighborhood. They decided to join in! All said and done, I think they sledded with this group of kids for nearly 4 hours! Luckily, it was sunny and 33 degrees with no wind so they were not cold!
The neighbor kids had some snowball makers. They had a snowball making factory and built tons of snowballs to sell to the other kids. The other kids bought the snowballs with snow money.
Nathan didn't make snowballs. He bought them with snow money and then threw them at people.
Nathan sledding down their hill.
They also built this snow fort and lined it with snowballs. It protected them and they could throw snowballs at Nathan.
Elizabeth sledding down the hill. She said she got too hot so she took her coat off.
Elizabeth must have run up and down this hill a hundred times.
She made a new little friend and they liked to sled down on two sleds holding hands. It was really cute. Nathan threw snowballs at them.

Snow Tunnels
Well, the kids didn't have school for the next FIVE days. No school for a whole week. Now, it is President's Day weekend so they have another 3 days off in a row. That means they are going to have a total of 10 days of no school in a row. They will head back to school Tuesday but another snowstorm is expected Tuesday night so we will see.
During those 5 days, the kids played outside a lot. Jeremy was at work for all 5 days for at least 12 hours a day. It snowed near daily so the routine began. I shoveled and the piles got bigger and bigger. The kids made bigger and longer sled tracks and tunnels. I tried to get photos of the amounts of snow we had. I think it ended up being about 12 inches??
Whenever we were inside, they liked to fight. Being trapped in the house for more or less 10 days was rough.

We got some big drifts.
They called this Freedom Mountain.
Each kid had a big mountain of snow that they built tunnels in.
Nathan built one tunnel.
He helped Elizabeth build 2 snow tunnels and then connected them inside!
They made a sledding hill.
They would slide down their sledding hill and try to go right through the tunnels. It was pretty fun!

Elizabeth at 9!
Elizabeth is 9!
She is 58 pounds and 4' 4" tall. She usually sleeps about 9-10 hours a night. She doesn't do that weird sleepwalking thing much anymore. She usually goes to sleep at 9:30 or sometimes 10:00. I wake her up in the morning for school around 7:30.
She likes school much better this year. There are not as many disruptive kids in her class. Last year, there were 30 kids in her class. They added another class this year, so she only has 18 kids this year. She leaves for school and comes home happy.
Her favorite foods are bacon, noodles, mustard, chicken and yellow rice, burritos, mac and cheese, eggs, and hershey kisses. This is mainly what she eats. She doesn't like any vegetables. She likes a few fruits. She does not get a lot of variety in her diet and she refuses to eat most foods. Therefore, she continues to be quite thin!
Her eczema is still a problem. However, we've been using a steroid cream more this winter that is really helping. We don't like using it every day but she has been and her skin is much better. She is still only allergic to peanuts, sunflower seeds, and hazelnuts. No new allergies thank goodness!
Her favorite subject at school is art. Her least favorite subject is PE and testing. Her favorite books to read are The Land of Ellen series and American Girl books. She is an excellent reader and does very well in math too. Overall, her teacher has no complaints and Elizabeth does very well across the subjects. She is still obsessed with rocks and has a habit of constantly picking up rocks
She enjoys playing with Nathan. They still play lots of imaginative games together. Some of her favorite games are My Little Pony and Blob Sports.
Some of her favorite friends are Charlotte, Josephine, Piper and Adrianna. She loves playing with her little friends. She has no shortage of friends and seems to like everyone as long as they aren't naughty in class.
She is extremely active and never stops moving. She just doesn't ever sit still! She hasn't wanted to try many sports. She does take tennis lessons once a week. She considered softball, but due to the fact there are sunflower seeds EVERYWHERE, she said she doesn't feel safe knowing how sensitive she is to those.
She loves to play with Lego Friends, My Little Ponies, her stuffies and her squishies. Her favorite color is teal. We recently painted her room teal and for her birthday Gram and Auntie Laura decorated her room with teal.

Elizabeth's 9th Birthday Party
Elizabeth had a unicorn birthday party! Of course, we picked the absolute worst day of the whole year to have her birthday. There was an actual blizzard going on. None of the family from far away came because the weather was terrible. 3 families got stuck in snow drifts and deep snow trying to get their daughters to the party. Jeremy went and picked up one girl, a nice Mom managed to get the the other girl, and the third girl just stayed home because the parents had to dig themselves out of the drifts and deep snow. Keep in mind that all these girls lived within a mile of our house! The snow was that deep and the wind was blowing such deep drifts. Somehow 10 girls managed to make it. We were so grateful to their parents for making the effort on such a horrible weather day so that Elizabeth could have a nice party. Part of her party plans were to make snowmen and play in the snow but it was too windy and cold.
Elizabeth planned her whole party. When the girls came in, they got unicorn masks.

They then drew pictures of unicorns. Some brought their stuffed unicorns so they drew those.
Next, they played unicorn BINGO.
Elizabeth was very excited to be the one in charge of bingo calling the cards. When the girls won, they got hershey kisses.
Then, Elizabeth opened her presents. She got all kinds of fun toys like squishies and slime.
11 unicorns!
They had cupcakes.
Elizabeth was all decked out in unicorn gear. She had her unicorn slippers from Uncle Brian and Aunt Karen. We had recently found those unicorn capris and shirt!
Today was the last time she would see this friend. They've been friends since kindergarten and this little girl moved to Idaho the next day.
