Pelican Bay Fun

The kids love to swim at Pelican Bay. Sometimes, Jeremy floats along with them! 

VBS

The kids and I spent last week at VBS. I helped out in the kitchen and made all the allergy snacks. The "theme" this year was "Shipwrecked." It was Nathan's last year at VBS. Next year, he can be a middle school helper. 

Nathan has had his crew leader for the past 4 years. That's every year this kid has been in high school and eligible to lead the groups! Luckily, it's Nathan's last year so he won't have to go without him as a crew leader next year. 

Evening bike rides with Elizabeth

Elizabeth and I like to take evening bike rides in the summer. We leave right as the sun is going down so it's not as hot! That still gives us plenty of time for a nice ride. 

First Paycheck

Nathan got his first paycheck for helping Papa Norm bale hay! 

Hydrangeas

The hydrangeas are out! We've been using more coffee grounds and more and more are turning purple this year. We even have a few BLUE!!  They look so pretty and will continue to look pretty until it gets too hot. 

Nathan's Favorite Things in 1 Minute

Taking the kids grocery shopping in the summer is not exactly our favorite thing to do. However, on this trip, the kids found some things to get excited about between their fights. I never buy them any of these things, but they think they are great. 

This was a big no. 

Who would actually buy and wear these Chewbacca heads in the summer? Maybe for Halloween. 

Summer Fun

We are doing our usual summer activities. An easy activity is going down to the middle school and running and jumping. 

4th Grade Letter

Nathan brought home this letter on the last day of school. He gave me permission to post it. 

Cherry Picking

We went to pick cherries after school got out on the last day. It seems we do this most years! We have a U-Pick orchard a few miles from our house so it's quite handy. 

A girl from Elizabeth's class was there too so they had fun picking together. 

We accidentally picked 35 pounds. We may have to freeze some for cherry pies! 

Last Day of School

The last day of school was June 12th. 4th grade and 2nd grade are now over! Nathan had his best school year ever and Elizabeth had a pretty good year too. 

. 

I now have a 5th grader and a 3rd grader!!! 

Roses

It's the time of year for our big bloom of roses. 

Basketball Camp

Elizabeth did a 4 day (1 hour a day) basketball camp. The local high school put it on. She had a lot of fun! It was her first experience with basketball. The first day she made no baskets and was sad. On the third day, she made 21 baskets! She learned quickly!
