Nathan at 8

Here are some things about Nathan at age 8!

He is  4 feet, 2 inches tall.
He weighs 60 pounds.
He's been wearing glasses for a year now. His vision in his lazy eye is now 25/20 as long as he is wearing his glasses!
He loves to read non-fiction books. They are his favorite. Books about animals are top for him. He just loves animals!
He favorite toys are stuffed animals. They are his current obsession.
His favorite TV show (and Elizabeth's too) is My Little Pony. They play imaginative pony games all day long. This summer, Nathan has been Twilight and Elizabeth has been Pinkie Pie. I have no idea how their games work but they have a good time.
His favorite food are wraps and green beans with butter.
His favorite color is rainbow.
When outside, he loves to play on the play structure.
He keeps the compost bin for us. I can't wait to get some new soil!
Before he turns 9, we will get his orthodontic work started to make sure his teeth come in beautifully!
Elizabeth is his favorite person to play with.
He loves to snuggle his stuffed animals.
He will be starting 2nd grade on Sept 1!

The New Group

Nathan only wanted new stuffed animals for his birthday and that's a lot of what he got!

He was telling me about the process he goes through whenever he gets a new stuffed animal.

First, he gives them a each a checkup with his vet kit. That's what he's doing in the pictures below.
After the checkup, he says he puts in a "Fat Sack." This is where he puts fat into their bodies so if they have to spend a lot of time in the animal net with no food, they can live off their fat.
Lastly, he chooses a good name for them.

He then takes turns making each of them his "animal of the day" so they get to know him and our house.

A visit to see Papa Ray

We had a visit with Papa Ray! Sadly, Kim was stuck in meetings at work and couldn't make it.

They spent awhile playing in the hot tub.

Nathan played with dinosaurs while Elizabeth did some play dough.

Nathan got to open his birthday presents! Kim found this rattlesnake that actually has a rattle!! Nathan thinks this is the best snake ever.

He was so excited about the lemur.

And the bears. When we got home, the kids wanted to watch Brother Bear!

Elizabeth got a new little dog that rolls. Molly was impressed! I guess she thought they were friends!

Nathan also got this great game. Thanks for having us visit Papa Ray! Thanks for all the gifts!

Visiting Dad at Explorer Academy

We stopped for a quick visit at the Explorer Academy. We had lunch with Jeremy and then spent a few more minutes with him as he taught some classes. I only managed to take a few pictures.

Here's Jeremy teaching a class about how to make traffic stops.

It was hot!

August Videos

A visit to Auntie Laura's house

While Jeremy went away for Police Explorer Academy, the kids and I visited people! First stop was at Auntie Laura's house. We had lunch, popsicles, and watched a ton of airplanes!

Eating popsicles. Look at Auntie Laura's amazing petunias!! Also, she's painting her fence a beautiful white. She's done one coat there. Won't it look great when it's done?

Dancing to Mary Poppins and ruining Pippa's napping time.

We drove Pippa down to Gram's. Nathan read her several books about dogs to keep her occupied. One was about a dog birthday party. Elizabeth tried to think of jokes about dogs.

The Cat Family

Elizabeth is currently very much into kitties. Her big cat you see is named Cobbler. Cobbler just had a little kitten and Elizabeth named it Sunset. Vet Nathan delivered the kitten using his vet kit. Elizabeth and Nathan found a box and decorated it with all kinds of beautiful artwork and beads. The decorating took almost a whole day and the house was a wreck with art supplies.
Nathan has a stuffed kitty named Cougar. The kids decided that Cougar is the Dad cat.  Every night, they put the 3 cats in the box and fill it up with blankets. The cat family goes to sleep. On even days, the box gets put in Elizabeth's room. On odd days, the cat family gets to sleep in Nathan's room.

Elizabeth heading off to put her cats in the box for the night.

The cats did this puzzle. See how proud they are?

Park at the Lakes

We found a fun park in our town that we had never been to before and took a scoot! Well, the kids scooted. Jeremy and I walked.

There were a couple of small lakes.

The kids liked the fountains.

Bonfire

Jeremy and Nathan went up to Ellensburg for a bonfire. Elizabeth was really sick and I stayed home with her. Jeremy took a few photos. Nath...
